What sets us apart in Somerset isn’t just our tools or our insurance, it’s our focus on the details that other chimney services miss. Take your liner, for example. If it’s cracked or corroded, a quick sweep won’t fix it, but most companies won’t tell you that until it’s too late. We inspect every inch, from the crown down to the smoke chamber, because in older homes, small issues turn into big headaches when winter hits. We’ve seen chimneys in Somerset’s historic neighborhoods where the original masons did things ‘by the book’ of their day, thin mortar joints, hand-cut flue tiles, and we know how to work with them without tearing out what’s already there. Our goal isn’t to sell you a new liner if it’s not needed, but to give you honest advice so you can keep your fireplace running safely for another decade, or another century.
Somerset’s climate doesn’t play nice with chimneys. The freeze-thaw cycles crack mortar, the humidity warps wood stoves, and the wind off Lake Michigan can turn a minor draft into a full-blown fire hazard if your chimney isn’t up to snuff. We’ve been called out to homes on Maple Street and along the river where homeowners thought their chimney was fine, until they saw the creosote buildup or the water stains on their ceiling. That’s why we don’t just show up, sweep, and leave. We take photos, explain what we find, and give you a clear plan to fix it before it becomes an emergency. Whether it’s sealing a leak in your brickwork, relining a flue that’s seen too many winters, or just giving your chimney a deep clean before Thanksgiving dinner, we make sure you’re not left guessing. In Somerset, where homes are built to last, your chimney should too, and we’ll help it get there.
